Introduction

Major issues waved aside by the Planning Office of South Tyneside Council.

  • That the Slipway Cover is built 3m higher than planned.
  • The Slipway Cover has been expanded to house a large travelling crane without planning permission. Change of use?
  • UK Docks were offered another site by the Port of Tyne as their plans for the Biomass Handling Facility will landlock UK Dock’s Commercial Road Slipway.
  • UK Docks have a virtual monopoly on the maintenance of Pilot Boats (and Shields Ferries for that matter) on the Tyne and the Wear.
  • The Port of Tyne must have Pilots to operate properly.
  • The Port of Tyne employs many people and spreads it’s largesse (used to, perhaps) in the Borough.

Major misleading communications.
