Timeline

At the end of the day South Tyneside Council have allowed a large boatshed to built without planning permission but this seems to be a suitable place to consider the 5th Condition which would apply regardless of the other conditions: No works, other than the launching or beaching of vessels, shall take place within the shelter between the hours of 7pm and 7am Monday to Saturday and not at all on Sundays or Bank Holidays unless any written consent of variation is previously given by the Development Corporation as local planning authority.

This timeline and the ‘Details’ in it, were being reorganised to make sure that the inconsistencies in the planning process are highlighted in January 2017, when it came to light that the Council, Planning Officer Mr G Simmonette,  was  refusing to admit that the 5th condition still applied. Like the question of the height of the shed it remains a problem that the people living within earshot of UK Docks will have to live with. He was ably assisted by Customer Advocacy and Environmental Officer Mr  K Burrell.

Simply put, complaints were raised following a tremendous din being raised on Sunday 18th December 2016 and the only note of it ever happening is recorded on this website. Mr Simmonette and Mr Burrell appear to be in collusion in hiding UK Docks flouting of one of the conditions, laid down when they were given permision to expand their business in a residential area.
What this is also a good example of the Council Officers conflating complaints to avoid addressing problems left by others!
The complaint to which Alison refers did not mention the 5th  condition at all, it refers to the shed being built 3m taller than permitted.

South Tyneside Council are not alone in hiding irregularities in Building Control, Conditions of  Use etc. – just look at Grenfell.

Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practise to deceive!
