I acknowledge your e-mail below and your resignation from the committee.
I am not sure what you mean with regard to the TGA failing under my chairmanship, as everything that has been done so far has been agreed to by the TGA committee, including yourself. We have taken reasonable and pragmatic steps with the Town Hall and agreed on a way ahead with regard to any future planning applications. Whilst none of us want that structure to remain, I believe that at this point there is no reasonable way to expect that construction will be stopped or that it will be dismantled.
In addition, I have made it very clear on several occasions that I have no conflict of interests and have no interest in the company that owns the site, whether through work or socially or through any other connection.
I am disappointed to think that what I do in my social life as a freemason has any bearing on this issue, and that you still think this will ‘compromise my focus’.
As such, I am not really sure what you are alluding to in your reasons for resigning regarding me in particular, or what has lead you to your decision. However, I respect your decision.
Regards,
Graeme
From: Michael Dawson <daw50nmdj@hotmail.co.uk> Dear Anne
Notification for absence: The TGA appears to have taken little or no positive action against the continuing erection of the slipway shed on River Drive. I feel that the TGA is failing under the chairmanship of Graeme Watson, whose membership of a local Masonic Lodge is liable to compromise his focus in the matter. I fear he has a conflict of interest. I therefore tender my resignation as a member of the committee. regards Mick Dawson.
