A landlady returned to her pub after she was told to close for an CarltonTavern“inventory” to find builders had demolish the historic building. Developers ripped through Carlton Tavern the day before it was to become a listed building, according to councillors, after they had been denied planning permission. Read more:-

  1. How about making the developer put the pub back, restore it from scratch. Think of all the work for the local tradesmen, the people who make the glazed tiles etc., the list goes on and on. This would make a good example to people who bully Councils.
    A similar example could be made with UK Docks. They should be made to pull down the slipway cover on River Drive – they have their shipyard on the Wear in Sunderland after all, so its not like they will go out of business.

    A bit different to South Tyneside where the Council are quite prepared to allow the slipway cover to be used without doors, the Shields Ferry does not fit inside, because they say they cannot enforce any conditions.
