Enquiry 2: Slipway Development – River Drive.

The development to which this permission relates shall be carried out in complete accordance with the approved plans and specifications.
This is condition 2 of the grant of permission. There had been much talk of condition 1 (that work had to start within 5 years) and the other 3 conditions but none about condition 2. It was very clear to the local residents that it was not built to plan from the start.

  1. The Grant of Planning Permission imposes some conditions.
    1. The development to which this permission relates shall be begun not later than the expiration of five years beginning with the date of decision.
    2. The development to which this permission relates shall be carried out in complete accordance with the approved plans and specifications.
    Much has been said about the work being started in 2001 to meet condition 1 but when it is pointed out to the Council that it failed* to meet condition 2 they say “With regards to condition 2, this does not require any submission by the developer.”
    Whose side are they on?
    * planned width 12.2m : footings set to take frames of 13.1m width.
